Replace Your Old Phone Line Before 2027 — Switch to VoIP Now

Openreach switches off the old PSTN and ISDN phone network in January 2027 — every business must move. We’ll migrate you now, keep your existing 01482 number, and cut your phone bill.

Answer every call, wherever you are

Answer calls on your mobile, laptop or desk phone with our free app. Keep your existing number, or get a new local one — Hull 01482 or any UK area code. Add voicemail-to-email, call menus and ring groups, all set up and supported here in Hedon.

Why every Hull business must move

The old copper phone network — PSTN, ISDN and analogue lines alike — is being switched off for good. Here’s what the big switch off means, and why moving early saves you money.

January 2027

Openreach switches off the PSTN, ISDN and analogue network across Hull and the rest of the UK. It is a hard deadline, not a recommendation.

Every business affected

If you rely on a traditional analogue or ISDN line it will stop working — and you already cannot order a new one. Openreach stopped selling them back in September 2023.

Save money now

VoIP costs a fraction of ISDN. Most businesses cut their phone bill the month they move, so switching early pays for itself.

Switch-off questions, answered

The things Hull businesses actually ring us about.
Openreach is retiring the PSTN and ISDN network across the whole UK, and the deadline is currently the end of January 2027. It has already moved once — it was originally December 2025 — but the direction of travel has not changed. You have also not been able to order a new analogue or ISDN line since September 2023, so the network is only shrinking from here.
If your calls run over a traditional analogue or ISDN line, yes — that line stops working at the switch off and there is no opt-out. If you are already on VoIP or a cloud phone system, nothing changes. If you are not sure which you have, send us your latest phone bill and we will tell you straight away, free of charge.
Yes. We port your existing numbers across to the new system, so your letterhead, signage, van livery and Google listing all stay correct. Porting is included — there is no charge for it, and your number keeps working throughout the move.
This is the part most businesses forget. Anything else plugged into a phone line — intruder and fire alarms, lift emergency lines, door entry, PDQ card machines, some franking machines — is affected by the switch off too, and each one needs its own answer. When we quote for your phones we check these as well and tell you what needs replacing, rather than leaving you to find out in 2027.
Almost certainly not. A VoIP call uses roughly 100Kbps, so even a modest business broadband line comfortably handles several at once. If we think your connection genuinely is not up to it we will say so before you order — and we can sort the broadband too.
Most systems are built and tested within a few working days. We set the new system up alongside your old line, get you comfortable with it, and only then move the numbers over — so there is no day where the phones simply stop. We are in Hedon, so if you would rather we came and did it in person, we can.

Tell us what you have now and we’ll come back with a straight answer — what has to be replaced, what it will cost, and what you’ll save. No jargon and no hard sell.
